Debra Lee Gelatt, age 58, of Paupack died Friday, December 5, 2014 at home following a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of more than 15 years, James Judson Gelatt. Born August 8, 1956, in Honesdale, PA, she was the daughter of Leland Gumble of Paupack and Shirley (Bea) Gumble of Greentown. A graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School, Class of 1974, she had attended Gettysburg College, Northampton Community College, and East Stroudsburg University. In her earlier years, she had worked as an elementary school teacher and a dental hygienist. Eventually she joined her family's business, Gumble Bros. Hardware and Lumber, where she was currently a co-owner. Once she began working there, she discovered that she very much enjoyed designing houses, especially kitchens. Debbie volunteered with the Red Cross. She loved photography, skiing, gardening and golfing with her husband Jim. She was a ski instructor at Tanglwood Ski Area. She also enjoyed taking voice lessons and singing. In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a sister: Susan Gumble of Greentown; a brother: Dana B. Gumble and his wife Theresa of Honesdale; two nieces: Amanda Quimby and her husband Rob of West Virginia and Christy Woerner and her husband Bob of Langhorne, PA; a nephew, Jonathan Gumble of University Park, PA; and an uncle: William Bea of Honesdale, PA. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 19, at 11 AM at Hawley United Methodist Church, with Rev. Martin L. Cox, Jr, retired Pastor, and officiating.
