Obituary of William F. Pezzella, Sr.

William F. Pezzella, Sr., age 78, of Hawley died Thursday, February 5, 2015 at home. Mr. Pezzella was born April 8, 1936, in Brooklyn, NY, and was the son of the late Percy and Molly (Ryan) Pezzella. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Anne (Maritato) Pezzella in May 2003 and two sisters, Ann Marie and Florence and two brothers, Michael and Richard. William served in the Army during Korean Conflict and was employed as a custodian by Miller Place School District. He was a member of Miller Place Fire Co. in Long Island and White Mills Fire Co. He also enjoyed reading newpapers, watching TV, volunteering and visiting with family and friends. He is survived by one son: William F. Pezzella, Jr. and his fiancé, Gwen Brown of Nanticoke, PA; two daughters and sons-in-law: Donna and David Pezzella-Thacher of Honesdale, PA, and Patricia and John Boyle of Queens, NY; five grandchildren: Jennifer, John, Gabriella, Adriana and Joseph; one sister: Madelyne Shedd of Brooklyn, NY, and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 16th at 10am at BVM Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley. Inurnment will be in Indian Orchard Cemetery in the spring of 2015.
