John F. Otto, age 86, of Paradise Point, Lakeville, died Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne (Lynch) Otto. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in August. Born March 22, 1929, in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the son of the late Mahlon T. and Elsie (Wirtz) Otto. He grew up in Chatham, NJ, earned a Bachelors Degree from Rutgers University and served in the Marines during the Korean War. Formerly of Wayne, NJ, he spent 32 years as a field representative for Travelers Insurance until his retirement in 1990. While living in Wayne, NJ, he was very active in the Packanack Lake community. He had also been a member of the National Ski Patrol. John and Jeanne had vacationed at Lake Wallenpaupack since 1961 and retired here full-time in 1992. During his retirement at the lake, he enjoyed lake activities with his grandchildren as well as his weekly golf outings. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Sandra Vogel and her husband Tim of Denville, NJ, and Nancy Otto of East Longmeadow, MA; one son: James Otto of Lakeville; one sister: Jane Warren of Lumberton, NJ; four grandchildren: Rebecca and William Gould, Kathryn Vogel and Tracey Krangel and her husband Eric; two great grandchildren: Julian Vogel and Evan Gould. He was preceded in death by his brother, William. Family and friends are welcome at a gathering to celebrate John's life on Saturday, July 11th from 1 to 5 PM at the family home on Paradise Point in Lakeville. Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
