Dr. Charles Moore Davis Jr. of Tafton, PA, formerly of Morgantown, WV, passed away on July 21, 2015 surrounded by his family at his son's home in Hummelstown, PA after a brief illness . He was 85 years old. Charles is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Clark Davis; his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Charles Davis III and DeFord LeRoy Davis of Hummelstown, PA; his daughter and son-in-law Nancy Davis Yglesias and Michael Yglesias of Midlothian, VA; his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Robert Davis and Jenny Rohr Davis of Bedford, NH; his daughter and son-in-law Jennifer Davis and Todd Ciesielski of Ann Arbor, MI; 12 grandchildren and his beloved Maine Coon cat, Oliver. Charles was born the only child to Charles Moore and Dorothy Davis on June 30, 1930 in Bryn Mawr, PA. He graduated from Yale University in 1952 and completed medical school and an orthopaedic residency at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1960. At Penn he met his future wife, Barbara Clark, a nurse. They married in 1959 and settled in Havertown, PA. Charles practiced orthopaedics in Bryn Mawr, PA until 1972 when he left the Philadelphia area to join the staff of the West Virginia University Medical School in Morgantown, WV. He later entered private practice with Morgantown Orthopedic Associates. He served on the Board of Directors of Monongalia General Hospital for 18 years and was a member emeritus of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Charles was greatly dedicated to the practice of medicine and especially to his patients. His genteel and comforting manner were his greatest attributes. Retiring in 1993, Charles and Barbara enjoyed spending summers at their lake house in the Poconos and winters in Florida. He had a thirst for knowledge of everything, especially financial investing, which could have been a second career. His love for barbershop quartet music stemmed from having been in "Good Time Charlie's Glee Club" during medical school. Charles' devotion to his family and friends provided laughs, good advice and a guiding light to all. The positive impact he made on those around him is immeasurable.
