MaryAnn (Kestler) Blatz passed peacefully at home on August 12, 2015 after a short battle with cancer. She was 75. Born in Brooklyn, New York, MaryAnn was the eldest of nine children of William and Emma Kestler. She married Larry Blatz, the love of her life, whom she met on a blind date. They settled in Merrick, New York where they raised their family until 1978 when they moved to their dream home in Greentown, Pennsylvania. MaryAnn was a parishioner of the Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Peace and St. Veronica's Church Parish in Hawley/Paupack, PA. She was a member of the church's sewing group where they made items for the poor. She prayed her rosary daily. Her family and her faith were the joys of her life. She enjoyed cooking, vacations, loving her grandchildren, and doing anything for family and friends. MaryAnn is survived by her husband, Lawrence, of 56 years; her four children: Jean and her husband Bill from Pennsylvania, Christopher from North Carolina, John from Virginia, and David and his wife Amy from New York; as well as her remaining siblings: Dolores and Michael Kestler from New York. she had six grandchildren: Amanda, Brian, Jack, Maddie, Ella and Kate; a large extended family as well as many cherished friends who have been so kind and thoughtful during this most difficult time. Visitation will be held at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley, on Friday, August 14, from 4 to 7 PM. Visitors are invited to attend the Funeral Mass Saturday, August 15, at 10 AM at BVM Queen of Peace RC Church, 314 Chestnut Ave., Hawley. Interment will follow at BVM Queen of Peace Cemetery, Hawley. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial contributions to her church, BVM Queen of Peace RC Church, 314 Chestnut Ave., Hawley, PA 18428 in her memory.
