Thomas F. Madden, age 89, of Lakeville died Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Geisinger-Community Medical Center, Scranton. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen L. (McEvoy) Madden. Born July 7, 1926, in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late John and Mary (McLarney) Madden. A World War II Navy veteran, he had worked as chief inspector for the City of New York Water Department until his retirement. Formerly of Larchmont, NY, he and Helen moved to their beloved home in the mountains in Lakeville in 1989. Mr. Madden was a member of BVM Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Hawley, PA. In his younger years, he loved to sing and act in musical plays. A self-taught carpenter who could make almost anything, he was also known for his quick sense of humor. Most of all, he loved his family of which he was immensely proud. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Catherine Bachety and her husband Thomas of California, Helen M. Moeller and her husband Dale of New York, Thomas F. Madden and Mary of New Jersey, and Jeanne Ennis and Alan of Connecticut; ten grandchildren: Cristen, Lauren, Alison, Jessica, Neal, Ryan, Caitlin, Cara, Brian and William; and five great grandchildren. Calling hours will be Tuesday, October 27, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. There will be a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, October 28, at 10:00 AM at BVM Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley celebrated by Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. Memorials may be made to BVM Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, PA 18428.
