Joseph Edward Lindner, age 91, of Hawley died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at home. Mr. Lindner was born July 19, 1924 in Ridgewood, NY and was the son of the late Joseph H and Mary (Wolf) Lindner. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was employed as a bridge & highway construction inspector by PennDOT as well as opening and operating the TInk Wig Casino from 1949 to 1970 with his father. Joe joined Forest Volunteer Fire Dept in 1949 and was the oldest member. He was an accomplished button box accordion player for many local venues and activities including WVIA polka hour with his own Joe Lindner Trio. Joe was a member of American Legion; 4th Degree Knights of Columbus; Wayne-Pike Region Antique Auto Club of America; longtime member and former secretary of Wallenpaupack Area German-American Club. He is survived by his wife of 70 years: Edna A (Michitsch) Lindner; one daughter: Geraldine Powell of New Milford, CT; son & daughter-in-law, Joseph J. & Sandi Lindner of Voorheesville, NY; three grandchildren & spouses, Joseph C. & Malisa Lindner; Jessica & David Ambuhl; Peter & Sarah Lindner; five great grandsons, Joseph Lindner; Chase Lindner; David Ambuhl; Arthur Ambuhl; Blake Ambuhl. Calling hours will be Thursday, February 4th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 5th at 10 AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley by Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor. Burial will be in B.V.M. Queen Of Peace Cemetery, Hawley. Memorials may be made to Forest Volunteer Fire Dept., 1129 Towpath Rd.,Hawley, PA 18428
