Jean N. Anke, age 88, of Hawley died Friday, August 26, 2016, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. Born January 4, 1928, in Hawley, she was the daughter of the late Russell Nell and Amelia (Bott) Nell. She was a graduate of Hawley High School, Class of 1946. Prior to her retirement, she was a school secretary and bus driver for Wallenpaupack Area School District. A lifelong Hawley resident, Jean was a member of Hawley United Methodist Church where she was the longtime Recording Secretary for the Church Memorial Fund. She was also a member of the Honesdale Chapter of the Audubon Society. She is survived by her daughter: Becky N. Anke; her son: Richard Anke and his wife Catherine, all of Hawley; two grandchildren: Chad Anke and Amanda Swanick; and a great grandson: Parker Swanick. She was predeceased by her sister, Carol Ruane. Visitation will be Friday, Sept 2nd from 10-11 AM at Hawley United Methodist Church, 315 Maple Ave. Hawley, PA 18428, followed by a memorial service at 11 AM with Rev. Jeff Levy, Pastor Hawley United Methodist Church, officiating. Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. Inurnment will be in Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley.
