Heinz B. Krause, son of the late Alfred and Thekla (Kusterer) Krause, was born April 4, 1932 in Pforzheim, Germany, and died March 23, 2018 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He was raised in Bottrop, Germany where he met and married Magdalene Asmuss, immigrating to New York in 1954. After a few years in the Bronx, Heinz and his family moved to Long Island, eventually settling in Dix Hills. He was partner in the very successful Krause Land Surveyors. Upon retirement in 1997 Heinz and his wife Magdalene retired to Hawley, Pennsylvania, residing at Woodloch Springs, an area loved by the family for decades. Heinz quickly became a valuable member of the community during retirement, volunteering for the Stourbridge Lion, Wayne County Memorial Hospital, the Wayne County Historical Society, and Wildflower Music Festivals at Dorflinger-Suydam Sanctuary. He was a Freemason and a licensed Pennsylvania land surveyor and served many in the community with his talent and expertise. He lectured in German at area Lutheran churches. He also enjoyed flying at Cherry Ridge Airport. Heinz leaves behind his wife of 64 years Magdalene, his children Ingrid (Peter) and Kurt, and grandchildren Magdalene and Carrie. Memorial service is being planned at Bethel Lutheran Church, Rowland with burial to follow at Green Gates cemetery, Hawley.
