Obituary of Joan M. Squire

Joan M. Squire, age 88, a resident of Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, Honesdale, died following an illness Friday, October 24, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Daniel Joseph Squire, in 1993. Born February 6, 1926, in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Bartholomew and Margaret (McGrath) Prendergast. Formerly of Brooklyn, NY, she and her husband Dan had been residents of Grandpa's Woods in Tafton for many years. She had been a member of BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Hawley. She is survived by three nieces: Ellen MacPherson of Staten Island, NY, Jane Waters and Beth Prendergast both of Brooklyn, NY. A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at 10:00 AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley, with Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor, officiating. Inurnment will be held at BVM Queen of Peace Cemetery, Hawley, following the service. Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
