Obituary of Eizens Eugene Abolins

Eizens Eugene Abolins, age 97, of St. Tikhon's Monestary, South Caanan and formerly of Lakeville, PA died Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Bethany Village in Bethany. Mr. Abolins was born September 12, 1917 in Tashkent, Russia and was the son of the late Bernhards and Irina Abolins. He was predeceased by his wife, Milda Natalie (Liepins) Abolins, a brother, Leonid and two sisters, Galina and Xenia. Mr. Abolins was a graduate of Riga State Technical Institute, earned his master's degree in civil engineering from the University of Latvia and the University of Connecticut. He received his professional license of engineering from the state of Connecticut. Eugene was a civil engineer for a boiler manufacturing firm in Connecticut. Mr Abolins was a member of St. Tikhon's Orthodox Church and a communicant. Eugene was a world traveler who spoke five languages and visited all 50 states, the Far East: Japan, South Korea, Thailand, China; Australia, New Zealand, India, Nepal, Mexico, Panama, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Germany, France, England, Holland, Denmark, Belgium, Sweden, Latvia, Poland, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Egypt, Israel, Syria, Morocco, South Africa and most of the Atlantic Islands. Calling hours will be Saturday, Nov. 15th from 10 to 11 am at St. Tikhon's Orthodox Monastery, , South Caanan, PA, followed by the funeral at 11 am.
