Janice Madole Obituary

Janice Hartshorn Madole passed away peacefully at Wayne Memorial Hospital on Thursday, November 10, 2022. She went to be with her Lord at the age of 87 years. She was born on May 26, 1935 to the late George and Marion (Lee) Hartshorn.


Janice was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, Harry Lee Madole. She is lovingly remembered by her sons: Scott Madole and his wife, Barbara of Hawley and Jeff Madole and his wife, Lydia of Damascus. Janice was the cherished grandmother of Scott Madole, Joshua and Rebecca Madole, and Anthony and Tori Madole, as well as her eight great children, Savannah, Rose, Ethan, Rylee, Lucas, Olivia, Elijah and Jackson.



Janice was born in Allentown, NJ and raised in Allentown, NJ. She attended school in Upper Freehold Township and college at Trenton State in NJ.



Janice married Harry in 1955. They lived in various parts of New Jersey and raised their two sons in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, then moved with Harry to their vacation home in Tafton where they lived for 30 years.



Janice had many accomplishments of which she was most proud. Her first job was playing the organ, at a young age, for McGuire Air Force Base. She played the organ for many churches throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the longest being at the First Presbyterian Church of Manasquan, NJ, where she directed the choirs and bell choirs for 35 years. While living in Pennsylvania, she played the organ for Hawley United Methodist Church, Paupack United Methodist Church, Central United Methodist Church in Honesdale and Bethany United Methodist Church.



She was a music teacher in Wall Township for 25 years, as well as many other school districts in New Jersey.



Being an accomplished organist and music director allowed Janice to share her love of music with others, giving them a gift that will be treasured always.



A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church, 16 Virginia Avenue, Manasquan, NJ 08736, with Pastor Jim Dunson officiating.



Inurnment will be in Jacobstown Cemetery in Jacobstown, NJ.
