Robert E. Roe of Austin, Texas passed away on Monday June 12, 2023, at the age of 83. He was born on December 4, 1939, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
He graduated from Albion College in 1962 and University of Michigan Medical School in 1966.
Robert worked as an Obstetrician Gynecologist in the U.S. Air Force, private practice in Midland, Michigan and Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. He served as Chief of Staff of Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center before his retirement.
Following Robert's retirement, he and his wife moved full-time to their second home on Tink Wig Lake outside Hawley. During that time, Robert worked as a starter for Woodloch Springs Golf Course.
Robert enjoyed cheering on University of Michigan football, flying airplanes and conversations with friends over coffee and breakfast. Most important to Robert was being with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Irma Roe of Sault Ste Marie, Michigan.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy English Roe; daughters Amy Elizabeth Werner and Katherine English Semyon; son in laws Karl Fredrick Werner and Donald Peter Semyon; granddaughters Sarah Elizabeth Werner and Megan English Werner; brother Donald Lyle Roe.
Robert always felt lucky to have had a career that brought him so much joy and fulfillment.
The family would like to thank Hospice Austin for the compassionate care they showed Robert in his final days. And, in honor of Robert's favorite drink, please enjoy a cup of coffee.
