Jay Charles McMurray, age 61, of Lakeville and formerly of Hawley died December 17, 2023.

Jay McMurray was born March 30, 1962, in San Jose, CA and was the son of the late Ronald Lee and Patricia Ann (Stinnard) McMurray.

He was a graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School and while attending held many track and field records. Jay graduated from Northampton Community College with a Certification in heavy machine operation as well as his CDL and Hazmat, operating every piece of heavy equipment, from a skid steer to your typical dump truck.

Jay enjoyed the outdoors, in his younger years where he was an avid hunter, and fisherman. He had always felt peace near Lake Wallenpaupack.

Jay was a family man and was always attending his children's events. From band concerts and dance recitals to baseball games, Jay never missed one. He loved playing games with his family and loved to tell jokes. Out of all of Jay's accomplishments throughout his life, he was most proud of his three children.

Jay will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his wife: Leann Hartill; one son Richard Hartill; and two daughters: Erin and Destiny McMurray, all of Lakeville. He is also survived by his brother: Mark McMurray of Beach Lake; his brother and sister-in-law: Thomas and Helen Hartill of Allentown; brother-in-law: James Daniel of Hawley; and sister-in-law: Kelly Daniel of Bel Air, Maryland.

Jay will be missed by his nieces and nephews: Brandon McMurray, Brooke Perez, Abagail Hartill, Zachary Daniel, and Thomas Hartill.
