Marjorie A. Wassmer, age 89, of Bohemia, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 28, 2023. She was preceded in death in 2010 by her husband, Rudolph O. "Rudy" Wassmer, on the same date and nearly the same hour.

Born May 20, 1934, in Flushing, NY, Marge was the daughter of the late Robert Vincent and Solveig (Johansen) Holmes. She was the secretary and receptionist of the President of Columbia Pictures. She also worked with her husband Rudy as the manager of his plumbing business and taught Sunday School in Flushing, NY.

Formerly of New Hyde Park, NY, Marge was a charter member and former president of the Lion's/Lioness's Club of New Hyde Park, as well as a Lion's Eye Bank volunteer. She volunteered with Disaster Relief Coordination for the Salvation Army.

After retiring with Rudy to Bohemia where they had long maintained a vacation home, she continued her tireless volunteer work. She was a longtime committee member of the Pike County Republican Party and was the last Pike County Jury Commissioner. She also volunteered with the Wayne Memorial Hospital Women's Auxiliary and the Central Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Sons of Norway.

She is survived by one son: Daniel Wassmer of Hawley; two grandsons: Christopher Petillo and his wife Emily of Norristown and Michael Scott Wassmer of Charleston, SC; and her former daughter-in-law: Miriam Wasserman.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Carole Holmes, and her brother, Robert Holmes Jr.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 25th at 3PM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 401 Church St., Hawley, PA. Inurnment will be in Green Gates Cemetery following the service.
