Sandra L. Valent, age 82, of Paupack passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 3, 2024. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert M. Valent Sr.

Born April 21, 1941, in Cementon, PA, she was one of nine children born to the late Nevin and Mildred (Yeager) Fritzinger.

She worked her way up the ladder at Shop Rite, initially hired to stock the shelves in the bread department. Through hard work and dedication Sandra became the first female manager of a major grocery store in the United States when she was promoted to store manager of Shop Rite. Following her retirement from there, she became the manager of the Effort Ambulance Corps.

Sandra was a member of St. John the Baptist RC Church in Allentown for many years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter: Lisa A. Miller of Phoenixville, PA; one son: Robert M. Valent Jr. of Paupack; one sister: Shirley Gerny of West Palm Beach, FL; one brother: David Fritzinger of Slatington, PA; five grandchildren: Mathew Evers of Orefield, PA, Brandon Evers of Phoenixville, PA, Andrew Valent of Northampton, PA, Miranda Wambold of Jim Thorpe, PA, and Cody Miller of Allentown, PA; and three great granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by six siblings: Nevin Fritzinger Jr., Ralph Fritzinger, James Fritzinger, Alfred Fritzinger, Lana Hartman, and Linda Bobenko.

Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
