Frederick James Van Amburgh, age 78, of Tafton died Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at home. He is survived by his wife, Daisy Mary (Jardon) Van Amburgh.
Born June 17, 1946, in Newburgh, NY, Frederick was the son of the late Charles and Hester (Eckert) Van Amburgh. He was a US Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War.
He was employed as a delivery truck driver for the Wonder Bread Company. Formerly of Wallkill, NY, he and his wife later moved to Indian Rocks in Ledgedale, PA, where he worked for the Indian Rocks Community Association.
Frederick was very proud of his service in the US Army. He loved to golf, visit casinos and going fishing with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Daisy, he is survived by his children: Michael Van Amburgh and his wife Kimberly of Grand Forks, ND, Melissa Blair and her husband Karl of Vail, AZ, Christine Cangas and her husband Allen of Tafton, PA, Tina Stubbs and her husband James of Lake Placid, NY; and Guy Rose of Louisville, KY; his siblings: George Van Amburgh, Donna Warren, Margaret Ackerman, William Van Amburgh, Gloria Parker and Leroy Van Amburgh; his grandchildren: Kacie, Cameron, Jolene, Daniel, Hailey, Nathan, Hunter and Bentley; several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Frederick was preceded in death by his parents, Hester and Charles Van Amburgh, and a brother, Richard Amburgh.
Calling hours will be Saturday, October 12, from 1 to 2 PM at Teeters' Funeral Chapel, Inc., 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Anthony Schwartz of Paupack United Methodist Church officiating.
