Margaret E. "Beth" Gumble Obituary

"I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live."

John11:25

Margaret "Beth" Gumble passed into the arms of her savior on March 5, 2025. She was born

on July 7, 1935, to the late Clifton and Frances May (Longmire) Locklin.

Beth is survived and terribly missed by her husband, George, of 68 years. Their anniversary

was March 2. Her children, Laurie Ehasz and husband Steve, Todd Gumble and wife Bonnie, and Gwen Miller cherish the memories of their love for one another and the unwavering

commitment to their family.

Her memory will also live on in her grandchildren: Joshua, Nicolas, Mackenzie, Tess (Rodolfo),

Kali, Cole (Morgan), Garrett, Marley and "adopted" granddaughter, Stella. In addition, six great

grandchildren will carry on her legacy.

In addition to her parents, Beth was preceded in death by her brother William O. Locklin and

infant grandson Gabriel Miller.

Born in Olyphant, PA, Beth attended Hawley High School where she was a cheerleader and her

then-future husband was a basketball player. They were high school sweethearts. She later

gained her RN from Mansfield University. After starting her family, Beth stayed home to raise

her family. Through the years she was active with the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels,

Pike County Drug and Alcohol, numerous church committees and was instrumental on the

committee to bring a pediatrician to her rural community.

Beth was an avid reader. She enjoyed gardening and held many wonderful memories of dinner

club nights with long-time friends. She and George were blessed to have many beautiful travel

experiences, again often with cherished friends. They wintered in Fort Meyers, Fla. for many

years and then Marco Island where they relished the warmer weather and the activities it

afforded. Holiday meals were peppered with joy, including those "holidays" that brought tired,

ravenous hunters in from the woods. She was wife, sister, mom, grandma, great-grandma and

friend to many. She touched countless lives with kindness and care. Beth suffered in her later

years with dementia, but even then never spoke a harsh word.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM to 12 noon on Thursday, March 13, at Teeters' East Chapel, 507 Church St., Hawley. Her funeral will be held at 12 noon with Pastor Dan Baker of First Baptist Church of Hawley officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Paupack.

Beth's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Allied Hospice for the kind and

compassionate care she received in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in her memory to the First Baptist Church of Hawley

Missionary fund, the Paupack Methodist Church food pantry or the charity of the donor's

choice.
