Obituary of Jeanine M. Tenzi
Please share a memory of Jeanine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jeanine M. Tenzi, age 58, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. She is survived by her beloved husband of more than 30 years, Mark Robert Tenzi.
Born June 21, 1966, in Scranton, PA, Jeanine was the daughter of the late Thomas K. Clauss and the late Carol Ann (Kiefer) Clauss. She was a graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School, Class of 1984, and Westchester University, Class of 1988. She was fluent in five languages, including Portuguese which she learned while studying abroad in Brazil.
She had several careers including Blooming Grove Township tax collector for over 20 years and running her own antique shop before finding her true vocation as an auctioneer. She was a proud and passionate auctioneer who built and ran her own highly successful auction company, Tenzi's Town and Country Auction. Her dedication and excellence in the field led her to be a two-time winner of the Best Auction House award in The River Reporter. More than just a career, auctioneering was her calling – she poured her heart into every sale and cherished the relationships she built with her loyal customers, who meant the world to her.
She lived life to the fullest and knew how to have a good time. She loved to cook delicious meals, host and attend parties, and never missed a chance to hit the casino. Beach vacations were her happy place – sun on her face, drink in hand, and not a care in the world. She also loved relaxing by the pool surrounded by friends and family, soaking up the sun and good company. Whether she was spending time with her beloved husband or laughing with her close-knit group of girlfriends. She brought joy, fun, and a bit of sparkle to everything she did.
She was the kind of mother and grandmother who could make you laugh until you cried. Always the life of the party, she had a sharp sense of humor, an unforgettable laugh, and a knack for turning even the most ordinary moment into something unforgettable. A powerhouse in business and in life, she ran her company with grit and grace – but never took herself too seriously. She was bold, hilarious, loving to a fault, and the kind of person who made everyone feel like family. The world is a little less bright (and a lot less funny) without her in it.
In addition to her husband. Mark, she is survived by one son: Nicholas Tenzi and his wife Marissa of Hawley; one daughter: Lorna Tenzi of Lords Valley; two granddaughters: Alison Holbert and Isabelle Tenzi, who were the absolute light of her life; and three brothers: Thomas F. Clauss of Dingman's Ferry, Christopher Clauss and his wife Lisa of Blandon, PA; and Joshua Clauss of Mohnton, PA. She is also survived by nieces, aunts, uncles and virtually hundreds of cousins. She was extremely proud of her large family.
