Herbert K. Koenig Obituary

Herbert was born in Mitterdorf, Gottschee in 1937 to Alois and Paula Koening. Upon arriving in Ridgewood, Queens at age 13, he went to work shining shoes, selling newspapers and pretzels. While attending Brooklyn College he worked in the ornamental metal industry and eventually purchased Allied Bronze Corp. in Long Island City, NY, he oversaw the installation of bronze and stainless steel at World Trade Center, Trump Tower, Statue of Liberty, etc. With his wife and children loved spending weekends in the Hawley area at Lake Wallenpaupack doing projects and renovations.

He is survived by his wife, Hartwig, sons, Christopher and Ronald and daughter, Cynthia, brothers, Alois and Adolf and sister, Sophie Stimpfel, daughter-in-law, Kimberly and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Irma Tinger.

He is deeply missed by all.
