Born in Prospect Park, New Jersey, Robert resided in Fair Lawn, NJ; New Port Richey, FL; Bradenton, FL; and, most recently, Hawley, PA, where he enjoyed 59 years of lake life on Lake Wallenpaupack. He was the son of Clarence and Matilda Boogertman.

He was a past member of the Army National Guard and served with the Fair Lawn, NJ, Police Department, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1985 after 25 years of service. More recently, he was known to many as “Bob the Builder.” He had tried hunting, fishing, and golf, but nothing gave him more joy than swinging a hammer—building one house each summer. Bob was always just one phone call away to help anyone in need. He often proudly shared that he worked on the stadium house at Giants Stadium.

He also took pride in claiming to be the oldest living Boogertman.

Robert was a member of Hawley Presbyterian Church and a former member of Trinity CRC, Bradenton CRC, and Hawley UMC.

He was predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Carol Ann Boogertman; his brother, Howard Boogertman; and his daughter-in-law, Barbara Boogertman. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gertrude “Trudy” Boogertman; his daughters, Susan Mertz (Wayne) and Beth Ann Vail; his sons, David Boogertman and Robert A. Boogertman; and his grandchildren Amanda Solensky, Alexa Bias, Emily Mertz, Lindsay Zipperlen, Jacob Boogertman, Josie Mertz, Jenna Vail, Mayah Boogertman, and Luke Boogertman.
