Joseph F. Rowe Obituary

Joseph F. Rowe, age 89, of Cherry Ridge, Honesdale, died Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center, Lake Ariel. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Katie M. (Eskra) Rowe.




Born December 19, 1935, on the family farm, Joe was the son of the late Jacob and Carrie (Rickard) Rowe. He was a graduate of Hawley High School, Class of 1953. He spent his life working on the family dairy farm, Rowe Brothers Farm.




Joe was the last survivor of six siblings: Dorothy Wulff, Robert, William, James, and Edward Rowe.




In addition to his wife, Katie, Joe is survived by his son: Joseph E. Rowe and his wife Sue of Cherry Ridge, Honesdale; his grandson: Tyler Rowe and partner Celeste of Cherry Ridge, Honesdale; and his granddaughter: Lydia Rosencranse and her husband Derek of Prompton.




Joe adored his grandchildren and in his younger years he could be found punching in puddles or digging around the farm with them. Joe's favorite baseball team was the Phillies, and he spent countless hours watching them on television. Joe also loved playing baseball and cards. He was presented with the Achievement Award by the Wayne Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1999. Joe's winter pastime activities were hunting and fishing on the farm with his son, grandchildren and nephews.




Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
