Nancy Lynne Handrich, age 87, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Wilkes Barre. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Frederick Handrich IV, in 2000.
Born January 5, 1938, in Orange, NJ, Nancy was the daughter of the late Charles and Marie (Reilly) Scher. Nancy spent a lovely childhood in Packanack Lake, New Jersey. She had fond memories of horseback riding, ice skating, and spending summers at the shore in Seagirt, NJ.
Nancy lived in a number of places over her lifetime after Packanack Lake, including West Orange, NJ, Waco, TX, San Antonio, TX, Long Island, NY, Marlboro, NJ, Wayne, NJ, and Lansdale, PA. She was employed as a bank teller for many years and later worked as a stylist in a women's clothing store. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with family.
Nancy especially enjoyed playing in the bell choir of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Freehold, NJ and later at The Church of the Messiah in Lower Gwynedd, PA, as well as giving her time to other church ministries.
She is survived by one son: Rick Handrich and his wife Mary Beth of Pennington, NJ; one daughter: Marie Kramer and her husband Bob of Lakeville, PA; her twin sister: Joan Haffenden of Dunellen, FL; five grandchildren: Catherine Kostic and her husband Rob, Sean Handrich and his wife Casey, Molly Handrich, Julia Kramer and her fiancé Dyllan Kobal, and Ryan Kramer; and one great grandson: Liam Kostic; a nephew and two nieces: Mark Haffenden (Audrey), Lisa Overstreet (Paul) and their daughter Kaley, and Karen Mueller (Mark) and their children Lauren and Brant.
Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel. Her ashes will be interred together with those of her late husband, Fred, at a later private ceremony at Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.
A memorial service will be held at a 11 AM on Thursday, Decemeber 11, 2025, at The Church of the Messiah, 1001 DeKalb Pike, Lower Gwynedd, PA, with The Reverend Emily E. Given officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Church of the Messiah, 1001 Dekalb Pike, Lower Gwynedd, PA 19002.
