Shirley J. Peeters, age 91, a resident of Bethany Village and formerly of Hawley, died Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale.

Shirley was born April 2, 1934, in East Orange, NJ and was the daughter of the late Dwight Chester and Irma LaVern (Whitney) Bebee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Burt, and her second husband, Richard Peeters; and two sons, Richard Burt and Douglas Burt.

She and her first husband Robert were the owners of Pocono Pines Motor Inn and Cottages in Tafton until their retirement in 1994. She had also been the secretary for First Presbyterian Church in Hawley.

She is survived by her stepson: Bruce Peeters and his wife, Debbie of Wappingers Falls, NY; stepdaughter: Lynn Scafidi and her husband, Vinny of Endicott, NY and their families, and Doug's partner, David Goldstein of Hawley, PA.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, where Shirley's urn will be placed with her first husband and her sons in Pine Grove Cemetery in Paupack.
