Helen B. Cavanaugh passed away December 27, 2025, at the age of 84. She was born Helen Blanche Stellmann on December 19, 1941, in Queens NY, to the late George and Wilhelmina (Barg) Stellmann.
Helen married the love of her life, Raymond Cavanaugh. Helen's sister Carol married Raymond's brother Joe, and they purchased a two-family home together in Richmond Hill, NY. Helen would say two brothers married two sisters and they lived happily ever after.
Helen and Ray did not have children, but Helen became the second Mother to Joe and Carols' three children, JoAnne, Carole Ann and Joe Jr. These were the years that she would recall with great love and joy.
Eventually the two sisters and the two brothers retired and moved to Hawley, Pa. This time they built two houses next to each other and continued their beautiful sibling relationship. They even brought Helen's mom Wilhelmina to live with them and "Grandma Willie" had a bedroom in both homes, and they shared her equally.
Helen loved her kitchen and spent most of her time there. She had every conceivable kitchen gadget you can think of and said she could never get rid of any of it, "not one thing." She loved washing dishes by hand and would spend hours doing so even though she had a brand new dishwasher. One time she needed to buy a new stove, and she cried her eyes out saying, "I loved that stove!"
Helen was also the great sender of greeting cards. She knew all her friends, siblings, nieces, nephews, great nephews, great nieces, godchildren and their children's children's birthdays and anniversaries by memory. She was also not a fan of this texting nonsense. She would say "pick up the phone and just talk to each other!". Helen had spoken to one of her friends for over 6 hours straight!
Helen was also a dog lover. They were all her "children" and she loved and devoted her life to their happiness (Teka, Tonia, Tasha, Natasha, Whitney, Teka II, Missy).
Helen missed her family that had gone to Heaven before her so so much. She would cry often with tears of joy for those fond memories and how much she loved them. Helen is now with God and all of her loved ones that she greatly missed. No more tears, no more suffering, just pure Joy. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond Cavanaugh, sister Carol Cavanaugh, and her brother Richard Stellmann.
She is survived by her Aunt Muriel, brother Walter Stellmann and his wife Nancy and several nieces, nephews and godchildren.
