Cynthia F. Hoagland Obituary

Cynthia Frances Hoagland, 90, of Hawley, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior.

Born on April 24, 1935, in Princeton Junction, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Duncan and the late Cynthia Duncan Patko. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Raymond Hoagland.

Cynthia was a woman of deep faith and was a devoted member of Honesdale Tabernacle Church. She dedicated many years to organizing Meals on Wheels in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, and also trained therapy dogs. She cherished her years serving alongside her daughters as a Girl Scout and 4-H leader and never missed a horse show. Cynthia enjoyed her retirement years traveling with her husband and creating lasting memories together.

She is survived by her loving children: Diane Sweet, Melissa Semcer, Raymond Hoagland and Curtis Hoagland and his wife, Elizabeth Hoagland. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Jacob Hoagland and his wife, Marlee Hoagland, Isaac Hoagland, Lauren Dillinger and her husband, Andrew Dillinger, Trey Semcer, Carly Semcer, and Kiera Semcer; as well as seven great-grandchildren.

Cynthia will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren for the many special moments they shared together. Summer days were spent on the boat at Lake Wallenpaupack, where she happily watched them ski and tube for hours. Time with Grandma always meant sweet treats of candy or ice cream, lively games of cribbage and UNO around the table, and warm pancake breakfasts. She patiently taught them how to knit, proudly attended school events, and was always their biggest supporter. More than anything, they will remember her unwavering love, her generous spirit, and the way she was always ready to help in any way she could.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Christian Church of Hunterdon County, 226 Locktown Sergeantsville Road, Stockton, New Jersey. Interment will follow at Rocky Hill Cemetery in Rocky Hill, New Jersey.
