Billy Lewis Obituary

Billy Lewis, commonly referred to as "Bill," passed away peacefully in his Fawn Lake Forest home on Friday, March 13, 2026. He was 74 years of age and is known for his quirky sense of humor and his profound willingness to help others. Bill participated in various activities, such as playing pool, chess, cards, fishing, swimming, and video games, while enjoying a good beer or margarita. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends, desiring nothing more than to see them happy and having fun.

Billy was born on February 18, 1952, in Brooklyn, New York, at Kings County Hospital. He attended Lafayette Academy, John Marshal Junior High, Brooklyn Tech Institute, and a higher learning Radiology program. While doing so, he took on all sorts of jobs: butcher, cab and bus driver, IRS agent, hospital aide, and radiology technician. Bill settled into an emergency room radiology technician position at Coney Island Hospital, NY, where he worked for almost 30 years and became the overnight supervisor. He then transferred to Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, where he later retired.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Lewis, and his mother, Katherine Davis. Bill is survived by his older brother, Albert Lewis, and Albert's wife, Gwendolyn Lewis. Billy had three children: William Lewis, Thersha Lewis, and LaVaysha Lewis. He earned a second son, Akito Tucker, through love and support, and gained another through marriage, James Irvin Jr. Billy had a nephew, Matthew Lewis, and a niece, Nicole Lewis, from his older brother Albert. Over time, Bill served as an extended father figure to many: Shanta Tucker, Samuel Hawkins, Calvin Hawkins, Rickeeta Morales, Lamell Bellamy, and Xavier Hawkins. He also loved his daughters & son-in-law, whom he gained in Amy Eldred, Jacqueline Tronosky, and Eugene Lartey.

Billy departs this world as a "Proud Grandpa," leaving a lasting impact on his six grandchildren: Camille Kelly, Jayden Eldred, Nile Lartey, Jasiri Lewis, Emma Mae Tucker, and Nori Lartey. Bill was blessed to have a large family and friends who deeply cared for him.

There are no words to fully express the loving, kind, and supportive brother, father, grandfather, and friend we've lost in Billy Lewis, but one thing is true: we will have great memories to cherish his life and legacy for years to come.

"What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us!" ~ Helen Keller
