Lillian Agnes Andersen, age 74, of Hawley died Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale.

Born June 29, 1951, in Manhattan, NY, Lillian was the daughter of the late Henry and Eleanor (Hilland) Jacobson. Formerly of Brooklyn, NY, she had been a Hawley resident for nearly 40 years. Prior to her retirement, she worked for many years as a bartender.

Although she wanted to be thought of as "a tough old broad from Brooklyn," people who knew her nevertheless called her "Sweet Lillian." She enjoyed listening to music and some of her favorite songs were "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong and "Gloria" by Laura Branigan. She also loved musicals, especially "Les Mis."

She dearly loved her grandchildren and enjoyed organizing and playing games for them on Christmas Eve, like White Elephant and Guess How Many Hershey's Kisses in the jar.

She is survived by three sons: David Simpson of Hawley, Scott Simpson and his wife Megan of Hawley and Joseph Andersen and his wife Lindsay of Olyphant; one brother: Robert Russell of Colchester, CT; and six grandchildren: Shane Simpson, J.J. Andersen, Jack Andersen, Lily Simpson, Cooper Andersen and Theodore (Teddy) Andersen.

She was predeceased by three siblings: Linda, Jerry and Kenny Russell.

A Celebration of Lillian's Life will be held from 4 to 6 PM on Wednesday, April 15, at Teeters' East Chapel, 507 Church St, Hawley.

Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
