George Peter Mortensen, age 76, formerly of Hawley, died Monday, April 13, 2026, at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa (Krapataloska) Mortensen, in 2001.

Born September 26, 1949, in Jersey City, NJ, George was the son of the late Jens and Helen (Hiris) Mortensen. He worked as a security guard in New York for 30 years until his retirement.

He is survived by one brother: Ronald Mortensen of Newton, NJ; and two nephews: Matthew and Rowland Mortensen of Wantage, NJ.

Calling hours will be Saturday, April 18, from 11 am to 1 pm at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Adam C. Reinhardt of officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kimbles.
