It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Brian Mertz, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and cherished great-grandfather, who passed away on April 14, 2026, at the age of 84.
Brian lived a life defined by dedication to his family. As a husband, he shared a lifetime of love, partnership and unwavering support with his beloved wife, Linda. Their bond was a true testament to commitment, filled with countless memories, laughter and enduring affection.
As a father, Brian was a steady and guiding presence. He instilled values of integrity, hard work and compassion in his children, Wayne and Cheryl, always leading by example and offering wisdom and encouragement.
His greatest joy extended to his grandchildren, Amanda, Emily, Josie, Kyle and Kevin, and great-grandchild, Clara, who brought immense pride and happiness to his life. He treasured every moment spent with them, sharing stories, laughter and lessons that will be carried for generations. Aside from his family being his greatest accomplishment, he was also very proud to have had a lifelong career as a machinist making parts for the Space Shuttle and was an avid golfer.
Brian will be remembered for his kindness, strength, sense of humor, generosity and love for life and positivity. He touched many lives with his warmth and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife: Linda; his children: Wayne Mertz and his wife, Susan, Cheryl Ryan and her husband, Jimmy: his grandchildren: Amanda Solensky and her husband, Greg, Emily Mertz, Josie Mertz, Kyle Whalen and Kevin Whalen; and great-grandchild: Clara Solensky. He is preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor, his father Howard and his brother Howard "Wes".
A memorial service will be held at 6 PM on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Teeters Funeral Chapel, 505 Church Street, Hawley, Pennsylvania, where family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate his remarkable life. Visitation will be held prior from 5 to 6 PM.
Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, strength and family will live on in all who were blessed to know him.
