Alice Ehrhardt Obituary

Alice Ehrhardt, age 95, of Paupack, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, April 20, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Gerald "Jerry" Ehrhardt, who passed away in 2008.

Born on October 17, 1930, in Hamlin, Alice was the daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Gilpin) Ferris, raised on their dairy farm on Bidwell Hill. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Mansfield State Teachers College and went on to devote 36 years to teaching young children. Alice began her teaching career in Levittown, Pennsylvania, later teaching at Salem Grade School in Hamlin, and ultimately serving as a kindergarten teacher in Hawley with the Wallenpaupack Area School District. While teaching full time, Alice and Jerry also coowned Silver Birches Resort on Lake Wallenpaupack, a place that welcomed and created lasting memories for generations of families.

Alice was deeply committed to serving others. She was a longtime member of the Paupack United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and served on several committees over the years. Her community involvement extended beyond the church as she served on the Pike County Library Board and the Home Extension Board, delivered Meals on Wheels, and volunteered with the Community Pantry. In all she did, Alice was guided by generosity, kindness, and a sincere desire to help those around her.

Alice is lovingly survived by her three sons: Eric Ehrhardt and his wife Sue of Tafton, Stephen Ehrhardt and his wife Sandra of Honesdale, and Craig Ehrhardt and his wife Gina of Paupack. She was a devoted grandmother to Jennifer (Zachary), Ashley, Brett, Raeann, Ryan, Mackenzie, and Madison, and a cherished greatgrandmother to Benjamin and Nathaniel, all of whom brought her great pride and joy.

In addition to her husband, Alice was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Polley and Carol Cunningham.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church Street, Hawley, Pennsylvania.
