Gertrude Ann “Gert” Schleiker, age 92, of Tafton died Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Carbondale Nursing Home, Carbondale, PA. She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Neil Kelso Schleiker. She was preceded in death by her sisters Mildred and Catherine and granddaughter Ryan Michelle Hays.

Born January 4, 1934, in Philadelphia, PA, Gertrude was the daughter of the late Maximilion and Gertrude (Moll) Doll.

Formerly of Langhorne, PA, Gertrude had been a waitress for 30 years at Inn Flight in both Bucks and Montgomery Counties until her retirement. She and her husband Neil had been Tafton residents since 1990.

A member of Paupack United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, Gertrude was also a member of the Wallenpaupack Historical Society and the Tafton Fire Company Auxiliary. In addition, Gert enjoyed participating in Revolutionary War re-enactments with Neil, including traveling to England for a large commemoration. They loved traveling to Williamsburg, VA; Boothbay ME, Mackinac Island, MI, Northern CA and Hawaii including Pearl Harbor. She loved animals including deer by her home and had multiple blonde cats over the years. She often wore red and white as a faithful Philadelphia Phillies fan.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved children: Kenneth (Julia) Hays of Delaware, OH; Deborah A. Hays of Warminster, PA; Daniel (Donna) Hays of Nipomo, CA; Mark (Kimberly) Hays of Horsham, PA; Cynthia A. Schleiker of Levittown, PA and N. Kevin Schleiker of Mickleton, NJ. An adored grandmother to Megan McElhinny, Erin (Todd) Davidowitz, Nathaniel Hays, Meredith Hays, Graham (Sara) Hays, Nicole Hays, Taylor (Chris) Smith, and Jacqui Schleiker; and a cherished GG to four great grandchildren: Emmerson and Cambria McElhinny, Noelle Davidowitz and Amelia Hays.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 6th at 11 am at the Paupack United Methodist Church with Pastor Anthony Schwartz officiating.
