Grace L. Coutts Obituary

Grace L. Coutts passed away peacefully in her home on June 17, 2026 as a result of a stroke two weeks

earlier.

Born on June 9, 1937, in Susquehanna, Grace was the adopted daughter of the late Stewart C. and

Helen M. Lennox of Paupack. During her youth, the family moved from Paupack to Forty Fort only to

have her father pass while she was in her early teens. After her fathers' passing, the family returned to

the Paupack area. She graduated from the Hawley High School(1955) and attending one year of

college, choosing marriage instead of continuing her studies.

In her youth, she worked at Silver Birches Resort on Lake Wallenpaupack. As an adult, she was primarily

a stay at home Mom, but also provided secretarial duties to her husband's construction company and

provided charitable services to the Paupack United Methodist Church for decades.

She was a longtime member of the Paupack United Methodist Church, singing in the choir for over 40

years and part of the finance committee, counting the weekly offerings.

In her spare time, Grace loved doing craft work. Her hands and arms were rarely motionless. Up to the

day of her stroke, she enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, cross stitch, and plastic canvas leaving behind a

few unfinished projects. She also enjoyed supporting her favorite football teams, the Philadelphia

Eagles and the Penn State Nittany Lions. Words of glee could often be heard echoing throughout the

house after a touchdown or key defensive play. Every Sunday after church, she and her husband would

sit side by side holding hands as they watched Penn State Football highlights; her first few weeks

without him were devastating.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Coutts, and her parents.

Grace is lovingly survived by her five sons: Philip Coutts of Paupack, Ronald Coutts of Hershey, Russ

Coutts and his wife Marion of Hawley, Dennis Coutts of Paupack, and Richard Coutts and his wife Sheri-

Ann of Hawley; as well as her grandchildren: Tori, Samantha, Daniel, Steven, Tyler, Kurtis, Alex, and Cole.

Grace will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering faith, her love for her family, her culinary

skills, and a house overflowing with crafts.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 23, from 10 to 11 am at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Anthony Schwartz of Paupack United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Paupack.

Memorials may be made to Paupack United Methodist Church, 579 Route 507, Paupack, PA 18451.
