Judith (Judy) Leah Slifko, age 85, of Hawley, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA.
Born December 28, 1940, in Poyntelle, PA, Judy was the daughter of the late Ralph and Helen Alberta (Wright) Giles. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of many years, Michael George Slifko, in 2002, as well as her two brothers, Dwayne and Gordon Giles.
A dedicated homemaker, Judy was an avid gardener and a talented, self-taught landscaper. Known for her quick wit, warmth, and generous spirit, she was a captivating storyteller who loved deeply and was unabashedly herself. Judy was a lifelong learner and voracious reader, a collector of memories, and a skilled crocheter and ceramic artist. Above all, she remained steadfast in her faith and devoted to her beloved Michael.
She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Timothy and Carey Slifko of Elizabethtown, KY, and Matthew Slifko and Punita Hanspal of Chapel Hill, NC; four grandchildren, Caden, Kelton and their mother Jacquelyn Barna, Taylor, and Claudia Slifko; and her sister, Sandra LaPointe of Beach Lake, PA.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 1, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Teeters' Funeral Chapel, Inc., 505 Church St., Hawley, PA. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 PM with Pastor Andrew Weidner officiating. Burial will take place at Indian Orchard Cemetery in Honesdale.
In leiu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Indian Orchard Cemetery to support the ongoing care and maintenance of the grounds, c/o Wade Seam, 2017 Roosevelt Hwy, Honesdale, PA 18431.
Judy leaves an incredible mark on all who knew her. Her family and friends will strive to honor her legacy and live up to her high expectations. She will be deeply missed.
