John Carlo "Pop" Rossitto Obituary

John Carlo “Pop” Rossitto, age 82, of Hawley passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026 at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Rossitto was born on October 11, 1943 in Staten Island NY and was the son of the late David Joseph and Frances Marie (Seneca) Rossitto. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, RoseMarie (Cipriani) Rossitto in 2021. Her passing left a profound void in his heart. John carried her memory with him every day, honoring her through his devotion to their family.

A proud and accomplished General Contractor from Staten Island, NY, John built a respected legacy as the owner of John P. Thompson Inc. for many years. Upon retirement, John and RoseMarie relocated to Lords Valley, PA and opened an Italian restaurant with their two sons. John was a warm, sociable man whose presence could brighten any room. He made friends effortlessly and carried a generosity of spirit that defined his life. After the passing of his beloved wife, he moved to Hawley PA to be near his son David and family. John especially enjoyed spending time at his son David’s and daughter-in-law Beth’s restaurant… where he loved visiting and laughing with family, staff, and guests – making each and every one of them feel welcome. You could always find him sitting at the bar enjoying dinner and conversation with all the customers who lovingly called him “Pop”. His smile and accompanying twinkle in his eye filled all those around him with love, warmth, light and happiness. His many stories will be remembered forever. If John wasn’t at the restaurant chatting it up, you could find him at our local smoke shop “casino” playing “hearts”.

He is survived by two sons, David Rossitto and his wife Beth (Tafuri) and John A. Rossitto and his wife Debra (Ryan). John’s legacy includes five grandchildren: Gina (Andrew) Intartaglio, Marissa (Nicholas) Tenzi, Alicia Rossitto, John Louis Rossitto, and John Anthony Rossitto; one sister, Martha Turnese of Boca Raton, FL. He was also blessed with two beautiful great grandchildren, Isabelle Tenzi and Louis Tenzi, who brought him endless joy. The family is comforted knowing Pop has been reunited with the love of his life, Rosemarie.
