Joan C. Mynarski, age 90, of Paupack died Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Geisinger-Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John F. "Jack" Mynarski in 2020.

Joan was born September 18, 1935, in Manhattan, NY, and was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Egan.

She received her nursing degree from the New York Foundling Hospital. She worked as a nurse in various hospitals in the New York metro area throughout her career. Formerly of Yonkers, NY, she and her husband Jack moved to Paupack in 1984.

Joan and Jack were Yin and Yang, opposites who balanced each other perfectly. Fondly referred to as "Big Red" by Jack, Joan was a force of nature and a memorable character. She was sharp as a tack and strong in her opinions. She was also loving and loyal, funny and fierce. Joan was an avid reader of both books and newspapers. She was beloved by Jack, a devoted mother to her two children, Dennis and Deirdre, and a doting grandmother to her grandson, Nicholas.

She is survived by her daughter: Deirdre Mynarski of Paupack; her son: Dennis Mynarski and his wife Janice of North Carolina; and her grandson: Dr. Nicholas Mynarski.

Joan was preceded in death by her twin sister, Janice Heath.

Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
