Luis Arturo Torres, 82, of Hawley, PA and most recently of Williamsport PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his children on August 24, 2026.

Born on February 18, 1944, in New York City, New York, he was the son of the late Angel Arturo and Carmen Torres Brugman. He was proceeded in death by his sister, Aide Torres Concepcion, two brothers, Luis Lopez and Luis Colin Torres Brugman, and cousins, Kathy Vazquez Santana, Jose L. Vazquez and Gary Vazquez.

Luis proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a ground radio communications repairman in the 198th Communication Squadron at Takli Royal Air Force Base, Thailand, from 1968–1969. In 1970, he was awarded the United States Air Force Commendation Metal for his knowledge, initiative, and personal sacrifice for providing outstanding support to the 355th Tactical Fighter Wing.

Following the war, he spent his 40-year career building on the professional skills he gained during his service working as a radio and satellite communications technician until his retirement in 2009.

Luis was artistic and detailed and enjoyed fishing, history, and watching his favorite TV shows and movies. However, what gave him the greatest joy in life was his family. The pride and love he had for his children and grandchildren will be his lasting legacy.

He is survived by his children: Daniel A. Torres of Princeton, New Jersey, Selina Orr and her husband, Kevin of Hawley, PA, Christine Prohidney and her husband, Damien of Loyalsock Twp, PA and Steven M. Torres of Chapel Hill, NC; as well as his 3 beloved grandchildren: Jordan, Irina and Alyssa; and cousins: George A. Vazquez II and Louisa Vazquez Jimenez.

Services will be at 12 noon on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Teeters Funeral Chapel, 505 Church Street, Hawley, PA 18428. Visitation will be from 10 AM until 12 noon. Burial will follow the service at Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Lycoming County Veterans Memorial Park at Lycoming County Veterans Memorial Park.
