Charles H. Blackmore, age 78, of Bohemia, Hawley died Saturday, June 4, 2005 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. Mr. Blackmore was born April 3, 1927 at Honesdale, PA the son of the late Ralph and Edith (James) Blackmore. He was married to Gertrude Trudy Schulz for 38 Years. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II . Charlie attended the old Baisdenville School near Kimbles. During WW II, his service with the Army Air Corps was all stateside. He was a former Chief of Central Volunteer Fire Dept and one of three remaining charter members. He worked very hard to get the new Central Firehouse planned and built. He was a 50 + year Fire Policeman for Pike County and a 45 + year PA Forest Warden and received several WHIP awards. He was a member and trustee of the Pike County Fire Federation. He was also a trusee of Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kimbles, where he will be buried. Charlie is fondly remembered by some of todays grandparents in the area for when he took them on hay rides and to the old drive-in movie in Lake Ariel in the 40s and 50s. He was well loved and remembered for being willing to help people with anything that was needed. He loved to eat and go to various church and fire house dinners and was the chauffeur for Trudy and her friends whom he loved to tease when he picked them up. He will surely be missed by them. He was predeceased by a sister, Jane Miller, and a nephew, Walter Miller. He was Retired as a Self Employed Excavation Contractor. He is survived by his wife: Gertrude Trudy (Schulz) Blackmore Also Niece & Husband, Shelly & Keith Corey of Damascus, PA; Niece, Cathy Miller of Beach Lake, PA; Niece & Husband, Mary & Les Thomas of Prompton, PA; Nephew, Richard Miller of Beach Lake, PA;, and Several Great And Great-great Nieces And Nephews Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at TEETERS' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 at TEETERS' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley with Rev. Theodore Muller, Visitation Pastor of the Hawley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kimbles on Wednesday following the service.
