Ludwig Schmitt, age 92, of Hawley died Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at home. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Martin) Schmitt.
Born July 12, 1923, in Trunstadt, Germany, he was the son of the late Hans and Augusta (Schnider) Schmitt. Formerly of Queens, NY, he worked as a butcher in Queens as well as the Alpine Wurst and Meat House in Indian Orchard.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Henry G. Schmitt and his wife Kathie of Babylon, NY, and Peter Schmitt and his wife Ethel of Hawley; and two grandsons: Max and Jordan.
Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel.
