William F. "Bill" Luttenberger, age 92, of Hawley died Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart, following complications from a medical procedure. Born in Brooklyn, NY, at home on April 15, 1924, he was the fifth of six children. On May 11th 1946, he married the love of his life Lorraine Margaret Leddy. They were married 57 years before Lorraine passed away on April 30, 2004. Bill was predeceased by his parents Madeline and Joseph Luttenberger, brothers George, Joseph, Anton and sisters Anna Szalkowski and Marie Soucy, nephews Neal Soucy and Bruce Szalkowski and brother-in-law Wayne Leddy. A proud veteran of World War II where he served in the Merchant Marines, he worked for the F and M Schaefer Brewing Company in New York as a beer plumber for 37 years. Upon retiring and moving to Hawley, he worked at Woodloch Pines as a bus driver. Mr. Luttenberger was a member of Tobyhanna VFW Post #509, past president of Forest Volunteer Fire Dept., former Teamsters Union president, and had been a member of BVM Queen of Peace Church and the Knights of Columbus. Bill was a health nut and also loved bowling. Bill was a good and kind man who loved his family with all his heart. You might have even seen him in Hawley, sitting across from the Church Street Hardware waving to the passers-by. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him because they don't make them like that anymore. He is survived by three daughters: Lynn Ool and her husband Eric of The Villages, FL, Jill Zeiser and her partner Dylwyn Griffett of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Nan Falkowski and her husband Ed of Hawley; four grandsons: Kevin Ool, Ryan Ool and his wife Danielle, Keith Knapp and his wife Brianna, and Douglas Knapp and his wife Theresa; seven great grandchildren, three nieces and nine nephews. Calling hours will be Friday, Nov. 4, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. There will be a Funeral Mass on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 10:00 AM at BVM Queen Of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 314 Chestnut Ave, Hawley celebrated by Rev. Richard W. Beck, Pastor.
