Michael Thomas Macleary, 72, of Micco, Florida, passed away on September 9, 2023, in his home. Michael was born in Long Island, NY and moved to Hawley with the Macleary family in 1966. The Macleary family owned and operated the Eddy Hotel between 1966 and 1978. They were also longtime residents of Lake Teedyuskung. Michael was born in Long Island, NY to Willard and Jane Macleary on June 26, 1951. Michael attended Wallenpaupack Area High school and was a member of Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Hawley. While in Pennsylvania he worked as a chef, carpenter, and specialized in stone masonry. He moved to Florida in 2003 where he worked as a pro caddy at Bent Pine Golf Club from 2007 to 2016. He also had a taxi airport service and was nicknamed "Turnpike Mike" by his clients. You would often find him watching the New York Yankees and Dale Earnhardt. He enjoyed golfing, cooking and was generally the life of the party during family get togethers. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Willard and Jane Macleary; his sisters, Pat Noel and Karen Madsen; two brothers, Willard. Macleary Jr. and Kevin Macleary. Michael is survived by his two children: Michael P. Macleary and Jessica Rojas; his brother James Macleary of Lake Ariel; and his "five beautiful grandchildren:" Haley Madison Macleary, Morgan Christine Macleary, Patrick Michael Macleary, Tessa Marcelina Rojas, and Kevin Lemuel Rojas; several loving nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends.
