Barbara Ann Korup, age 82, of Spinnler Point, Tafton, PA, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Born on December 12, 1941, in Norristown, PA, she graduated from Upper Merion High School in 1959 and attended West Chester State Teachers College as a music major. She continued her love of music her entire life. She retired from a career as Child Accounting Specialist for the Upper Merion School District prior to moving to Spinnler Point with her beloved husband of 28 years, Raymond E. Korup. Barbara was a long-time member of the United Church of Christ in Norristown, PA where she served on Consistory, participated in choir and bell choir. She was also a member of the Spinnler Point Colony Association and once served on the Board of Directors as Treasurer. Barbara was an accomplished accordionist and enjoyed crafts of all sorts. She enjoyed her time at Spinnler Point, her view of Lake Wallenpaupack and time outdoors. From their deck, Barbara fed peanuts to the Blue Jays while Ray fed the chipmunks. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents: Paul A. Murphy, Sr. and Mildred J. (Pfeifer) Murphy; grandson: Matthew Marsack; and stepsons: Michael E. Korup and David E. Korup. She is survived by her husband: Raymond E. Korup; her children: Robert P. MacMullen of Pottstown, Debra A. Marsack (David) of Stroudsburg: and her brother, Paul A. Murphy, Jr. (Jane) of Punxsutawney, PA. Her extended family included: Daniel E. Korup of Dover, DE, Kelly E. Stehlin (Ryan) of Belchertown, MA, and daughter-in-law, Kimberly Korup of Bear, DE. Her grandchildren included: Ciara MacMullen, Delaney MacMullen, Michael Marsack, Brandy Nielsen, Julianne Korup, Justin Korup, Arya Stehlin and Jacob Payne. To allow for preplanned events or vacations, a “Celebration of Life” is scheduled for 11:00 am, April 13, 2024, at United Church of Christ, 1003 W. Marshall Street, Norristown, PA 19401 ( http://www.uccchristchurch.org ) Private cremation was held at Lake Region Crematory, Lake Ariel, PA. Private interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Barbara’s name.
