Bernice E. Singer, age 80, of Paupack, PA, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. Born in Ft. Atkinson, WI, she was the daughter of the late Edwin C. and the late Emily (Reuterskiold) Gumble. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, JR Singer. She was an excellent cook with an extensive cookbook collection. She loved to garden, fish, play pinochle and feed the local birds and animals. For many years, she volunteered her time at The Other Shop in Honesdale, PA. She was a long-time member of the Paupack United Methodist Church, WSCS and UMW. In addition, she was a founding member of the Wallenpaupack Area Medical Foundation. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter: Kathy Dowd of Reading, PA; a daughter & son-in-law: Linda & Terry Gretzema of Glen Arbor, MI; a brother & sister-in-law: Edwin H. & Helen Gumble of Cape Coral, FL; a grandson: Craig Dowd; a granddaughter & her husband: Keri & James Close; a grandson & his wife: Chad & Stephanie Gretzema; a granddaughter: Jennifer Gretzema; and three great grandchildren: Payton Close, Cooper & Jack Gretzema. Calling hours will be Saturday from 1 to 2PM at Paupack United Methodist Church, Rt 507, Paupack, PA. The Memorial Service will be Saturday at 2:00 at Paupack United Methodist Church, Rt 507, Paupack, with Rev. Robert B. Kolvik-Campbell, Pastor, officiating. Memorials may be made to Paupack United Methodist Church, Rt 507, Paupack, PA 18451
