Alfred B Cookson, age 74, of Blooming Grove and formerly of Bergenfield, NJ, died Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Geisinger-Community Medical Center in Scranton. Mr. Cookson was born October 23, 1941 in Milo, ME and was the son of Stella (Snigar) Cookson of Pleasant Mount and the late Alfred Bert Cookson. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Cookson, and four siblings: David Cookson, Robert Cookson, Charles Cookson and Maryetta Gorel. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was a machinist. He enjoyed hunting. He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Louise E. (Kievit) Cookson; daughter and son-in-law: Patricia and John Streppone of Piermont, NY; son and daughter-in-law: Michael and Sandy Cookson of Sloatsburg, NY; mother: Stella (Snigar) Cookson of Pleasant Mount; four grandchildren: Anthony, Michael, Tyler,and Mikayla; one sister: Lois Zashonski of Burlington, NJ; and one brother: Edwin Cookson of Pleasant Mount, PA. Calling hours will be Friday, March 4th from 3 to 6 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA with the funeral service on Saturday, March 5th at 10:00 with Rev. William Samford, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Hawley,officiating. Burial will be in Green Gates Cemetery in Hawley.
