Francis H. McConnell, age 83, of Friendly Acres, Hawley died Saturday, August 6, 2016 at home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Barbara (Thomas) McConnell, in 2014.
Born January 15, 1933, in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of the late Harold and Margaret McConnell. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an aviation electronics inspector. Formerly of Bayshore, LI, NY, he had been a Hawley resident since 1985. Mr. McConnell was a member of St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Shohola, and had been a member of VFW in Milford. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked to tinker and fix things and had a lifelong love of sweets.
He is survived by six daughters: Barbara' Ann Uzupes and her husband Robert of Hawley, Linda Nutt and her fiance' William McCandless of Hamburg, Diana Fusco and her husband Bobby of Scotch Plains, NJ, Susan DeAngelis and her husband Charles of Manorville, NY, Rose' Ann Orkin and her husband James of Hawley, and April Nutt and her husband Victor of Greeley; two sons: Thomas McConnell of Long Island, NY, and Edward McConnell and his wife Joan of Gilbert, AZ; 15 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sheri McConnell.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, August 9, from 9 to 11 AM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Tuesday, August 9, at 12:00 noon at St Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Shohola, celebrated by Rev. Thomas Major, Pastor. Burial will be in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY, on Wednesday, August 10.
