Obituary of Anita Shook
Anita Shook, age 80, of Hawley died following an illness on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Harold Shook.
Born May 27, 1937, in Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Meta (Holst) Dammann.
She worked as a bookkeeper for the family business, Shooky's Distributor in Hawley. Anita was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hawley and was active for many years with the church's Willing Workers group. She also taught Sunday School for over 40 years at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hawley and at St. Jacobi's Lutheran Church in Shohola. Anita enjoyed golfing in her free time.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons: John Shook and his partner Sherri McKinley of Shohola, PA, James Shook and his wife Rebecca of Hawley, and Jeff Shook and his partner Lenora Mills of Hawley; four grandchildren: Donny Shook and his wife April, Allison Chory, Aleah Shook and Carleen Shook; three great grandchildren: Kira Reese, Sara Shook and Colby Shook; a niece: Heidi Kovacs; a nephew: Steven Klimm; and many family members living in Germany.
Calling hours will be Sunday, June 18, from 3 to 6 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Monday, June 19, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 405 Church St., Hawley with Rev. Colleen E. Cox officiating. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in German Hill Cemetery, Shohola.
