After a hard fought battle with multiple illness's Ron passed away on Thursday, October 1st, 2020, at Geisinger CMC in Scranton. Ron is survived by his loving wife: Rae-Ellen Finan, four children: daughter Michelle Mckean and her husband John of Hawley; sons: Paul and his wife Jane of Somerset, NJ, Joey Soucy and fiance Jennifer Lynn, and Cody and wife Brianna of Honesdale; his grandchildren: Kassidy Mckean and fiancé Vinny Martino, Alyssa, John John, Morgan and Cameron Finan; two brothers: Gerry Finan and Barry Finan and wife Mary Ellen; two sisters: Sheelah Stepkin and Karen Haas; three nieces: Jenna Finan and fiancé Conner, Kira and Olivia Finan; one nephew: Malino Schust; also many aunts, uncle, and friends he considered family. Ron was preceded in death by his first wife Judith, his daughter Jennifer, and parents Paul and Marie Finan. As the 3rd generation of barbers of the Finan Family Barbershop in downtown Hawley, Ron will be dearly missed by many. His memory will be kept alive through all his family and friends he knew and loved. His trips to town always took longer than planned because he knew literally everyone in town and would have to stop and chat. Known as the "Mayor," he loved to reminisce about the good 'ole days in Hawley. Ron also loved to bowl; as a member of the bowling leagues he would travel for tournaments in Atlantic City, Mobile, Alabama and Las Vegas. As Ron always said. "What happened in Vegas stayed in Vegas." Beyond bowling Ron loved his old cars, NASCAR and especially his #24 Jeff Gordon. Most of all Ron adored his town Hawley, PA. Every day at 1pm you could find him at the Hawley Diner enjoying "His" California Burger with a Coke. If he wasn't talking about Hawley, he would be bragging about his biggest pride and joy - his family. In some of what no one knew would be his last days, Ron had one of his best days. He had a "cousins" dinner at the Capri. He said, "He would be smiling for a while after the best evening all summer." It is not the length of life, but the depth of life. As Ron would always say, "I'm Home." Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 11 AM to 2 PM and 4 to 8:30 PM at Teeters' Funeral Chapel, 505 Church St., Hawley, PA. The Memorial Service will be held at 8:30 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Platt of Wallenpaupack Free Methodist Church officiating. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, everyone attending a visitation or service must wear proper face coverings and be socially distance. Pennsylvania regulations impose limits to 25 people at any time for indoor gatherings. Please observe the State rules. A Celebration of Ron's life will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 4 PM at Fantasy Island, Williams Road, Hawley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Finan family to assist with expenses.
