Henry J. Lawlor, age 64, of Tafton entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 7, 2005 at home surrounded by his family after a long & courageous battle with cancer. Hank was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend, who was loved by everyone that knew him. He was a selfless, giving person who always put others first. Family was always the center of his life. Although Henry was taken much too soon from us he had a life full of accomplishments and achievements of which to be proud.
Mr. Lawlor was born February 13, 1941 at New York City, NY the son of the late Harry Martin and the Florence Marie (Kelly) Lawlor.
In 1980 Henry was awarded the NYPD Medal of Valor. He then retired form the NYPD 52nd recinct in 1981. He worked as asst. to the president of lighting and electronics in Wappingers Falls, NY. He was employed by IBM East in Fishkill and retired in 2002 after 15 years as a manufacturing manager. He was a Dutchess County Legislator for District 7, from 1990-1993.
He was employed as a Police Officer by New York City.
Mr. Lawlor was a member of Member Knights of Columbus and former Warden of NY State Council Knights of Columbus, Past Grand Knight of Wappingers Council 1646, Member of Wappingers 4th Degree Assembly.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years: Frances B. (Connor) Lawlor;
Daughter & Son-in-law, Christine Lawlor & Don Tompkins of Wallkill, NY; Son & Daughter-in-law, Michael & Karen Lawlor of Milford, PA; Daughter & Son-in-law, Patricia & John Dean of Phoenix, AZ; Daughter-in-law, Jennifer Lawlor; 7 grandchildren; Brother & Sister-in-law, James & Carole Lawlor of Lanark Village, FL; Brother & Sister-in-law, Martin & Mary Lawlor of Lanark Village, FL; and sister, Patricia Lawlor of Tallahassee, FL. He was predeceased by a son, John H. Lawlor.
Calling hours will be Monday Oct 10 from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 PM at Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday Oct 11, at 10:00 at St. Marys Church in Wappingers Falls, NY.
Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery.
