Obituary of Gladys A. Ficken

Gladys A. Ficken, age 78, of Hawley, died Saturday, September 9, 2006, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. Born in Hawley, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and the late Gladys (Bloss) Bebensee. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Harry W. Ficken, in 1998. A graduate of Hawley High School, she had retired as shipping manager of Sherman Mills and was the former manager of Shermans Mill Outlet Store in Hawley. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hawley, where she had formerly been the organist. Mrs. Ficken was a volunteer for the Guardians of Mercy, contributing many years of dedicated service, and was also a member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by a brother & sister-in-law: George & Jane Bebensee of Allentown, PA; 2 nieces, one nephew and six great nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 7 to 9 PM at Teeters East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. The funeral will be Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. William Samford, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Hawley, officiating. Burial will be in Green Gates Cemetery in Hawley. Memorials may be made to Guardians Of Mercy, 156B Cricket Hill Rd., Hawley, PA 18428.
