Obituary of Andrew Richard Witzel

Andrew Richard Witzel, age 79, of Woodloch Springs, Hawley, died Wednesday, September 20, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. Born in Maplewood, NJ, he was the son of the late Henry F. and Margaret (MacAlister) Witzel. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Jean G. Grapel, in 2001. A graduate of Newark Rutgers, he was a World War II Army veteran. He worked as an insurance bond agent for F.J. Wilkes Insurance until his retirement in 1992. Formerly a resident of Summit, NJ, he moved to Woodloch Springs following his retirement, where he was able to pursue his avid golf interest. He is survived by three sons: Ken Witzel of Petaluma, CA, Drew Witzel of Boyertown, PA, and Scott Witzel of Hawley, PA; 9 grand children and 1 great granddaughter. He was predeceased by a brother, Fred Witzel. Calling hours will be Saturday from 2 to 4 PM only at Teeters' East Chapel, 505 Church St, Hawley, PA. There will be a memorial service at Central Presbyterian Church in Summit, NJ, at a future date to be announced. Cremation will take place at Lake Region Crematory in Lake Ariel, PA.
